Email inbox today is alive with links to a Facebook page for an Amanda Lee who works at MAC Marketing Solutions.
This, as you know, is a result of our earlier post today detailing how an Asian buyer profiled on a CTV story for Chinese New Year has the same name as an Administrative Assistant who works for the same marketing company selling the Condo development that CTV profiled.
'Sweety Amanda' (the url link to her profile name) has a number of photos set to public viewing (provided you are logged in to Facebook on your own account), so let's check them out (click on all images to enlarge).
The two above photos are from 2009, four years ago.
This is the Amanda Lee from the CTV news story:
Are they one and the same? You decide:

Busted.
ReplyDeleteNow, will CTV do a cover story on how they were duped by MAC Marketing, and then proceed to investigate the fraudulent practices used by local real estate firms to manipulate the market via an unquestioning local media?
---Cricket Noises---
DeleteSend the link to the CTV reporter, Shannon Patterson.
ReplyDeleteWhy? So they can start covering up their tracks?
Deletelol, busted. Whisperer, you need to screen capture her entire facebook picture page, there are some older pictures from her facebook page that makes a much better match with the CTV picture
ReplyDeleteI just sent an e-mail to CTV asking for a follow up story. I'm sure it will fall on deaf ears, but this is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see what they say? Great work as usual.
While obviously this girl made some ethically dubious decisions, it is worth pointing out that her position is "administrative assistant". Doxing some secretary because her bosses are scumbags is misdirecting the anger towards, at most, a small time part of the problem. We don't know if she was pressured by her boss or if she volunteered, but she isn't likely to reap any benefits from her performance outside of continued employment. Let's try and keep focused on:
ReplyDelete1. Complicit media/reporters CTV
2. The actual decision makers and stakeholders at MAC marketing solutions.
Am I the only one being fairly uncomfortable with this post and the use of somebody's personal image?
ReplyDeleteI believe the LinkedIn profile mentioned yesterday was enough to prove the point. Let's not go too hard on this person as she's probably just a tool used by her boss as Derek noted above. I agree what she's done is unethical, but let's not be naive, she probably didn't have a choice.
Why give someone the benefit of the doubt?
DeleteShe has a choice to say to her boss that she feels uncomfortable with doing the news piece.
That makes here complaisant to the message, she is a grown individual and can make moral decisions on what is right and wrong.
Agreed. I don't think anyone would argue Miss Lee is personally to blame for this. She's simply the incriminating "fingerprints" left behind by MAC Marketing in their amateurish (yet undeniably successful) manipulation of ever-gullible CTV and Global news.
DeleteYou're not the only one for whom this is a little uncomfortable. It's a conflict of interest for sure, but it may be true that her parents are coming with funds and she's considering buying a condo too.
DeleteOn the other hand, she did decide to appear on TV and in doing so, opened herself to the public eye.
So, yes, this is a bit creepy, cyberstalker-esque, but she could have been smarter about it.
The whole idea of leaving your Facebook settings open so that anyone on Facebook can see them is the problem. She's posted all her photos on the cyber wall for anyone to look at. And people are looking.
DeleteIf her account was hacked it would be creepy. She has it open for all to look at.
It's fine by me - she's (probably) lied in the local media, in the attempt to gain her employer's favour through drumming up sales. I'm sure she knew exactly what she was doing, and I'm sure that no one on here has a personal vendetta against her - it is her bosses (to a degree) and the news broadcaster who are at fault.
DeleteReally does show the level of journalistic standards at these media outlets. Everyone within the 'bubble community' knows this stuff goes on - but it's always nice to see it so clearly in black and white that in some cases the public are being completely duped by a large spending interest group.
For your reference, any image on Facebook is the property of Facebook for eternity. Anyone who puts their pics out there, then agrees to be on TV by participating as an actress in a false news story does deserve to be exposed. Grow up Amanda Lee! This isn't make-believe. You are conspiring to dupe the public for your boss's financial gain. You are guilty of fraud.
DeleteI agree with Makaya,
DeleteThis is a young girl who made a mistake in her career. Any one of us who has not made a bad mistake? However, I think she is getting the rough end of the deal as she is easy to single out and use as a poster child. MAC marketing and their heads are currently not subjected to the same humiliation as this young girl doing what it takes to help her position. Let's go after the real culprits and the big dogs rather than getting hung up on the easiest target.
She has a lazy eye.
ReplyDeleteIt's impossible to miss in the CTV video and a number of pictures on her facebook.
It's the same person.
Forget CTV let CBC or some other station have the story first. CTV appears to be bought and paid for.
ReplyDeleteSkip ctv, report this to crtc...
ReplyDeleteI have dealt with crtc before, and will require a whole shitload of documentation to proceed, so if you want to deal with that headache, then lodge a complaint with them.
If it is successfully investigated, they can force ctv to act on their recommendations...ie retract the story, offer an apology
Nice work. I really hope CBC digs into this further. Has anyone called MAC marketing to try to get her on the phone?
ReplyDeleteWe can add this fraudulent act to the list of other R/E frauds: fake pre-sale condo line-ups, phoney bidding wars, agent misrepresentation of properties, R/E association's manipulation of sale statistics; phantom "Asian buyers", the list just goes on and on...
ReplyDeleteI'm Asian and we all believe that white people think we all look alike. As much as I would like to believe the 2 pics match, I dont think its a match. I asked my family members and they don't so either. Who else here is Chinese that thinks this picture is a match?
ReplyDeleteYou and your family members are wrong. Please don't be such a racist.
DeleteWe need a BBC equivalent here :)
ReplyDeleteI am asian, and you have to be blind to think the two pictures don't match. Check out her pictures on facebook and it's the same girl.
ReplyDeleteCheckout the lazy eye - that is what really gives it away!
ReplyDeleteIf this was a Hollywood movie, we here would be engaged one at a time by MSM/RE special assets until they can locate and neutralize the leader known only as the Whisperer. We've got to get to the truth before they...
ReplyDeleteI gotta stop watching those Bourne Identity movies.
It's her. But she doesn't have a lazy eye. I am an optometrist. The reflection of light off her cornea called the purkinge image is coming from the same location on both eyes. The eye gaze to her right makes her left eye look like it is turned in but really it is the Asian nasal fold of skin called the epicanthal fold...it's called a pseudo-esotropia...infants or young children also have this...it looks like a lazy eye but is not.
ReplyDeletelol you're a joke
DeleteI get those tough mudder ads too.
ReplyDeleteFunny that the girl in the blue dress taken with Amanda also appear on the CTV clip. Look at 2:14.
